Treasurer’s Report:
a. Current balance is $800.00 and change. Last year’s starting budget was $1400.00. Increased costs responsible for the difference, notably the cost of holding the All-Star game at Lafeyette.
b. Stu suggested collecting All-Star jerseys at the end of the games, and then re-using them for subsequent All-Star games. General response did not seem to support the proposal.
c. Alex suggested incorporating the $50.00 program ad fee with the yearly dues to prevent the annual struggle to fund the All-Star and Championship programs. Motion was made and passed unanimously.
d. Annual dues for 2005 season is set at $450.00.
e. New teams must pay ½ of yearly dues by October meeting. Remaining balance must be paid by November meeting. All dues for all teams must be paid by the November meeting date.
New Business:
a. Nomination of Officers for 2004-2005.
1. President: Alex Bodian nominated Harry Price for president. Harry Price nominated Stu Speicher for president. Stu agreed to serve with the provision that Harry continue to serve as the league’s as yet unofficial representative to the EPSLA.
2. Vice President: Harry agreed to serve as Vice-President and EPSLA ambassador.
3. Treasurer: Alex Bodian was nominated, and agreed to continue to serve as league treasurer.
4. Phil Repko agreed to serve as Secretary, along with John Marks.
b. Petition for Membership into PVLL
1. Phoenixville has requested membership into the PVLL. Jim O’Brien reviewed the development of his program, noting that in 2000 he started with 26 largely inexperienced kids, and that the program has grown to include 40 kids, many products of a youth program coordinated with the Phoenixville YMCA. In 2004, Phoenixville played an 18 game schedule that included contests with many current members of the PVLL.
2. Lansdale Catholic petitioned for membership in the PVLL. AD Dan Huston reviewed the development of the Lansdale Catholic program, noting that Lansdale Catholic is prepared to run a full Varsity and JV schedule, with the provision that member teams will host Lansdale’s HOME games, since they are without a home field.
c. Motion was made to accept both teams into the PVLL on probationary status, in accordance with PVLL By-Laws. [Both teams are eligible for all rights and privileges regarding league playoffs and all star representation.]
d. Vice President Speicher proposed a renaming of the divisions of the PVLL to reflect the fact that the Northern division teams are largely members of the Lehigh Valley league for other sports, and that the Southern Division teams are members of the Pioneer Athletic Conference for other sports.
e. An update was requested regarding the status of the Bethlehem Area Lacrosse Club. Dan Dolphin reports that he has generally equal representation of players from Bethlehem Catholic, Bethlehem Freedom, and Bethlehem Liberty High Schools, and that some other area schools are also represented.
Sidebar Discussion: General discussion ensued regarding the EPSLA policy to exclude teams from play-offs, unless all their team members attend the supporting school. Outcome of rampant discussion resulted in the following considerations:
a. Dan Dolphin offered to withdraw his team from PVLL playoffs if doing so would enable PVLL teams to be eligible for participation in playoffs. Stu agreed to consult with an EPSLA officer regarding the possible effects of the PVLL including a non-compliant program in the league playoffs.
b. General sentiment ran in favor of BALC remaining as a fully participating member of the PVLL in regard to league playoffs and All-Star games. The issue will be reopened at the October 11th PVLL meeting.
F. EPSLA dues Forms are available on EPSLA website www.pslax.org.
G. PLOA Assignor is Paul Valerio, replacing John Ziegler. Contact is available through the ISOCS system, or through the EPSLA and PVLL websites.
H. Tim Dunkelacher, Lehigh Valley official, sent a letter lamenting the development that provides NO PVLL representation in the PLOA. Paul Valerio will be invited to attend an upcoming PVLL meeting to discuss to complications caused by this development.
8:40 - Speicher motions for adjournment. Seconded by everyone else.

Sidebar Discussion:
Bodian suggested that program ad fees be collected up front at start of season, perhaps as part of league fees. Speicher suggested that club teams may benefit by NOT having the program ad lumped in with league dues. Also, some AD's may balk at the added expense. Issue remained unresolved.
d. Bodian reminded everyone that officials' fees for playoff games are paid through league dues, so clubs or AD's should NOT be cutting checks for officials.
Old Business:
a. Playoffs match-ups are set. Refer to Stu Speicher's emails regarding updates.
b. Games should be played Friday 5/7, Tuesday 5/11, and Thursday 5/13, with higher seeds hosting, and game times set at 4:30 pm, unless time changes are agreed upon by both coaches and John Ziegler verifies officials' availability.
c. Pigtail game with Bucks-Mont for EPSLA AQ is scheduled for Tuesday May 18th.
Sidebar Discussion:
Harry Price has been in contact with Bucks-Mont rep. with a tentative plan to play the PVLL/Bucks-Mont game @ Wissahickon HS turf field. We have no confirmation that the venue had been secured, so back-up plans were discussed.
Issue remains unresolved at the present time.
d. Championship game is scheduled for Lehigh on Saturday May 15th on the sod field. Middle school games will serve as opening acts, with one game at 10:00 am and another at 11:30 am on the turf field. ALL TEAMS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
e. Jersey colors for the championship game are to be determined as follows.
1. Higher seed gets Home Field designation and wears WHITE.
2. If both #1's advance to the Championship, South will get the Home Field designation and wear White. (If Pottsgrove advances to the championship game, they wear white.)
f. All-Star venue is still in doubt. No one has been able to verify costs or permission to hold the All-Star event at Lafeyette. Various members with connections to Lafeyette have promised to resolve the issue ASAP.
g. If Lafeyette falls through, Bill Waldron suggested that Pennridge stadium may be available. Updates will be forthcoming via email.
New Business:
a. All-Star selections/Rising Star selections are to be sent to Alex Bodian at corcom@enter.net ASAP. For All-Stars, send 1 pole, 1 offensive player, and 1 utility. (Utility players should be someone comfortable with a short stick, or the team might consist of far too many poles)
b. Rising Star selections should be freshmen or sophomores, with exceptions being made for the probationary teams to send juniors. Rising Stars should also consist of 1 pole, 1 offense, and 1 utility.
c. All League Nominations should be sent to Stu Speicher by the morning of Monday, May 17th . You may nominate as many as you want (though it was suggested that four or five should be sufficient). Include League Stats, excluding crossover games, so stats can be compared using the same no. of games.
d. Player of the Year is part of the All League nomination process. If you have a player who you believe is the player of the year, include an explanation as to why in your stats and profile nomination.
e. Scholar Athlete selections were made, after discussion of various candidates. In the North, a player from Emmaus will be named Scholar Athlete, and in the South, a player from Souderton will be named. Coaches reviewed recommended candidates' material and recommendations were approved unanimously.
f. Jeff Geisel announced that he would resign as president of the PVLL and as head coach of Parkland early in June. Alex Bodian asked him to consider retaining his presidency, but Geisel declined.
g. Stu Speicher distributed a handout on the 2005 PVLL league schedule. The 2005 schedule establishes Tuesdays and Thursdays in April as the proposed dates for all league games. Consequently, the first week in May is available for all make-up games, if necessary.
h. Also mentioned was the loss of Pennridge and Souderton as PVLL teams, since they will join the Suburban One league next year. The composition of the PVLL for 2005 includes four (4) Southern teams and eight (8) Northern teams. Casual conversation suggested that OJR, Phoenixville, Methacton, and
Daniel Boone be considered for membership for 2005.
8:40 Geisel motions for adjournment. Seconded by everyone else.
